Brooklyn's (Bk's) Sweetest  full bio

My musical foundation started in the Church - participating in the annual Christmas Presentations from the age of 3. Here, I received the moldings of stage presence, cue, singing solo & with a group, preparation, lyrical and melodic memory. It was a safe, supportive space for me to shine - and for many years the only place outside of my home, where I would share my gift .

Although in my academical achievements I focused on the visual arts, music always stayed close. I took basic piano lessons at age 12. In Junior High School, I participated in Band class. My personal musical tastes were crafted from the sounds of Hot97, WBLS, Z100, MTV, VH1 soul & BET. In high school I participated in an after school program where the focus & experience was immersion in various creative media projects. 

One of our many projects was planning, prepping & producing a live talent show equipped with featured upcoming guest artists & a judging panel, some involved in the music industry. One year I co-hosted the event and during rehearsals, the Program Director encouraged me to sing a snippet as part of the staged banter with my high school friend and co-host. I never did, out of fear - but I was convinced my folks tipped her off about my singing.

Fast forward to the early days of Groupon. I saw an ad for a month group vocal lesson package from Vocal Boot Camp with Craig Derry. I called, inquired and checked out a class - which I thoroughly enjoyed but could not continue at the time. I promised myself to return - which I did a year later. I attended for a year and a half under the guidance of Craig’s student, Clurel Henderson. That experience was the push I needed to finally start sharing my gift publicly. 

Thanks to global social networks inventions like YouTube, Instagram, Twitch & TikTok, one can find me: Brooklyn’s Sweetest Music. A name self-crafted from the days of Instant Messaging, now self-representing soothing melodic sounds wrapped within the hard exterior grit of my home: Brooklyn, NYC.
